The project has been funded by DFID-UK. BEFARe will collaborate with IMC in four identified districts of Sindh namely Shikarpur, Larkana, Jacobabad and Qambar Shahdadkot. The project will build the capacity of the government health facilities in terms of providing medicines, supplies, equipment and repair and maintenance. Mobile and static medical teams will work out of the government health facilities wherever feasible Government healthcare staff will also be trained so that they are better able to provide healthcare services to the affected communities. Hygiene related NFIs like Jerry Can and Hygiene Kits will also be distributed among the conflict affected IDPs. BEFARe is responsible for the distribution and replenishment of hygiene kits and jerry cans for storage of clean water to significantly reduce the risk of water borne diseases. Keeping in view the local cultural traditions and using the Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST) technique, BEFARe will also be responsible for conducting hygiene promotion sessions separately for males and females through hygiene promoters (HPs) in the identified four districts of Sindh.
