BEFARe provided health services including medical treatment, free medicines and vaccinations to 8871 patients including 173 mothers during 94 Child Health Days (CHDs) held across FRs of Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, D I Khan and in South Waziristan Agency (SWA) during June 2009.
BEFARe doctors vaccinated a large number of children besides examining and offering free medicines to patients suffering from diarrhea, acute respiratory tract infections, malnutrition and worm infestations.
BEFARe project staff also organized 32 Advocacy Events and 64 Awareness Sessions and mobilized tribesmen to avail medical services offered during CHDs to improve health conditions especially among their children and women. A large number of tribesmen participated in the Advocacy Events and Awareness Sessions amid volatile security situations.
Agency Surgeon SWA visited 8 CHDs while IMC Monitoring staff carried-out visits to 48 CHDs, Advocacy Events and Awareness Sessions.BEFARe is rendering essential health services in remote areas of southern FATA to improve health standards among tribals through support from Save the Children-US.
