BEFARe provides emergency WatSan services to IDPs in Dir.
The DCO district Lower Dir, appreciated BEFARe for installation of water tanks at Sadbar Kalay camp and expressed hope that facility will help in storing potable water and in preventing water-borne diseases among IDPs.
BEFARe is implementing water, sanitation and hygiene promotion project for IDPs from Bajaur for Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) through International Medical Corps (IMC).
BEFARe also installed water tanks at Sadbar Kalay camp and also cleaned 99 toilets at Timergara and Sadbar kalay camps. BEFARe also distributed Hygiene Kits among 598 IDP families besides carrying-out extensive hygiene promotion activity in IDP camps in district Lower Dir. Hygiene Kits contain basic hygiene items to prevent incidence of diseases in the camps among IDPs. Water buckets were also distributed with hygiene kits.
Thousands of people fled Bajaur Agency in the wake of military operation against extremists during August 2008 to take refuge in camps in adjoining districts.
BEFARe plans to distribute 1200 more hygiene kits among IDPs in other IDP camps in Dir.
