BEFARe holds policy seminar on human smuggling and trafficking .

BEFARe organized a National Policy Seminar on the issue of human smuggling and trafficking in Islamabad. Mr. Shakir Ishaq, Chief Executive, BEFARe opened the daylong seminar with his welcome speech. Mr. Mohammad Manzoor, Director Anti-Human Smuggling, FIA delivered the inaugural address and elaborated upon the theme and importance of the issue. Participants carried-out detailed discussions upon different aspects of human smuggling and trafficking besides considering ways and means to improve the situation especially in South Asian region in this regard. All the stakeholders participated actively during the discussions and offered valuable suggestions to address the menace of illegal immigration. Foreign dignitary, Mr. Zakir Hussain, Deputy Director Passports and Immigration, Bangladesh also addressed the seminar and shared his experiences and coping mechanism with the issue in their country. Mr. Ishtiaq Hussain, Consular, Bangladesh High Commission also attended the seminar. A large number of government officials including Additional Director General FIA, Director Immigration and Human Smuggling FIA, Director Legal FIA, Deputy Director FIA, Assistant Director NARA, Secretary OPF, General Manager OPF and officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Social Development and Special Education participated in the seminar.   
Ms. Shamila Ahmad, AENEAS Expert from Action Aid also participated in the seminar.Officials from concerned departments shared their experiences of dealing with the issue of human smuggling and trafficking besides measures adopted to control the incidence of human smuggling and trafficking.
