The Research and Development department is established with the objective of improving the standards in the educational programmes. It assists in sharing knowledge and information amongst the implementing departments within BEFARe and exchanging the same with partners and donors through the PID division. R&D primarily concentrates on the production, reviewing and publication (P&P) of curricula to incorporate and integrate with new and innovative concepts in education including both FE (Formal Education) and NFE (Non Formal Education) sectors. The materials developed by R&D are also extensively used by other educational organizations like Save the Children (US) in the province of Baluchistan , IRC and CARE International etc. along with many agencies inside Afghanistan.
The general functions of R&D at BEFARe are:
- Carrying out Research.
- Development of Formal and Non Formal written educational materials.
- Reviewing the materials.
- Evaluation of educational programs.
- Organizing workshops on Pedagogical aspects for Teacher training, Teacher supervision, Managers, Planners etc.
- Developing training manuals for:
- Peace education.
- Gender Equity.
- Mother and Child Health Care program.
- Union councils Monitoring Committees.
- Master Trainers
