BEFARe conducted a UNHCR requested needs assessment of damaged schools in Mansehra and Haripur administered by BEFARe Abbottabad Sub-Office. These schools are operating since 1980s and no major repair work has been done till date.
All construction and repair activities were completed at the 32 schools of BEFARe in Haripur and Mansehra. Completed construction works include 72 classrooms with 72 verandas, 11 latrines (i.e. 6 cubicles per unit) and 200m of B/Walls in 24 schools and repairs were concluded at 41 classrooms, 8 verandas and 4 latrines. All site activities were monitored by the selected technical team of three engineers along with full support from COPE team and the refugee community. Furniture for grade 7 & 8 students and all BEFARe school teachers is also part of the support provided under the project.
