Project description
BEFARe has reached out and launched an Integrated Child Healthcare (ICH) project for creating awareness regarding child healthcare in the non-LHWs-covered areas of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) and Frontier Regions (FRs) of Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Tank.
The project aims to generate awareness regarding five health aspects of Immunization, Acute Respiratory Infections, Diarrhea, Essential New-Born Care, Nutrition and Micronutrients among the tribesmen and women through a practicing doctor and nurse assisted by trained native male and female volunteers.
The communities are regularly briefed on the importance of Child Healthcare through Health Communities (HCs) formed by BEFARe community motivators. The project organizes Eighty-four (84) Child Healthcare Days (CHDs) on monthly basis wherein free medicines are distributed among the deserving patients provided by Save the Children Fund (SCF).
Project benefits a vast area by bringing about BCC as people become aware and get to know solutions for health problems. As the project employs local staff and has ensured their proper training and repeated practical application of knowledge gained, this strategy builds proficiency besides improving project sustainability.
