Quality Teacher Training
Project location: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NWFP) & FATA
Project start and end dates: 2003 – 2005
The teacher training program with the support of CIDA catered to continued teacher training needs of Afghan refugees. Within the three years program timeframe, BEFARe trained 2,673 teachers, 111 Field Education Supervisors and 46 Master Trainers in latest pedagogical and school management techniques.
The teachers also included a large number of non-service individuals from the refugee communities, who had completed their education and were trained to teach as professional teacher with intensive basic and refresher trainings.
After training, BEFARe developed a database of trained teachers and shared it with the Ministry of Education in Afghanistan, so that teachers can be engaged in schools where needed. The CIDA-AREP program partners of BEFARe included the IRC, and Ockenden International.
